Wagner's Philosophy...

The Wagner's Baseball website is dedicated to the kids that put their sweat into the love of baseball. Our team has always focused on the processes that help kids become great in baseball and hopefully translate that into life as they grow up. Speed and agility, fundamentals, intimidation, motivation, and domination are keys to winning. We teach them that winning comes not from just as much of what happens off the field as it does on the field.

Baseball is a game. Learn from it, use it, and be successful in life.

A little bit about Wagner's Baseball (12 & Under USSSA)...

History: 2004-2005

This team began in a "Machine Pitch" league at 3&2. During the two years of machine pitch, several players came together to create a friendship. Merek, Ben, Dan, and Kyle spent a couple years getting used to "Kid Pitch" baseball. Our team began to play in various tournaments.

In 2005/2006, the Wagner's Baseball Team was invited to play in an invitational tournament at the Disney Wide World of Sports. In a field of 9, we finished 4th. Here are some highlights:

  • We were the first team from Kansas to ever be invited;
  • We were the only "non-club" team in the Championship bracket;
  • We were the only team to take the final winner all 6 innings in pool play;
  • We scored more runs in that pool game than All Other Teams COMBINED!
  • Daniel pitched his first full game, and cranked a stand-up triple in the last inning during our comeback;
  • We played great defense against the Ol'Meca Mexico team and took them out of their normal 'small ball' game plan.

Since that tournament, our team has changed several players. We appreciate all who have participated with our team.

2006

In 2006, the Wagner's Baseball Team went to the Kansas State Tournament for the first time. Considering we only had 3 pitchers, and Ben had a trip to China for a month, the team pulled together & finished with the following highlights:

  • Final Standings - 31 Wins & only 7 Losses;
  • USSSA "A" standings - 1st in Kansas;
  • USSSA "A" standings - ??th in the Nation;
  • And 3rd in the Kansas State Tournament.

2007

Beginning in the Fall of 2006, our team began playing tournaments to prepare for another run at the State Tournament. Opportunities changed, as we continued to play in USSSA "AA" & "AAA" tournaments, even winning some like the "Cow Town" Tournament in May 2007, which was an "AA" tournament. This win forced USSSA to move us to the "AA" division. This kept us from participating in the State Tournament, as scheduling during a time when families had already planned vacations.

Fall of 2007 sets us up for the best run yet! Several changes in player personnel have allowed us to work at a solid potential at the USSSA "AA" State Tournament for the Spring 2008 league.

2008

What can we say...more baseball - YES!!! The kids started hard, working out and practicing in the middle of January. As it has turned out, the winter has been much longer than normal. Two of the first three tournaments have been cancelled due to cold snowy weather.

The first tournament that the kids could play in was awesome! They won all 4 games, with the last two being shutouts!

The test of time wears on. The kids are working hard. We hope to compete in 10-12 tournaments and progress to the USSSA 12U-AA State tournament and World Series events.

Go Wagner's!
